Once upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered, weak & weary
Over tales of denied black voters and so much more
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
Someone gently rapping, rapping at the polling door—
“Make America Great Again,” cawed the Raven:
“Vote Roy Moore”
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December;
And each Republican senator threatened to kill Obamacare and leave its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost 1950 corporate taxation laws of yore
Or the rare and radiant senator who did not treat 14 year olds like a whore
“No, I will not vote for him….
Never Moore!”
–“Never Moore”
“Be that word our sign in parting, libertarian or fiend!” I shrieked, upstarting—
“Get thee back into the Tea Party and the Alt-Right’s Plutonian shore!
Leave no white plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my democracy unbroken!—quit the tax bill above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from the Senate floor!”
Quoth the Raven “Vote Roy Moore.”
Once upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered, weak & weary
Over allegations of pedophilia, rape & racist lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
Someone gently rapping, rapping at the polling door—
“Alabama has decided…,”cawed the Raven:
“Never Moore”
